Episode 36 – Life & Work with Mikayla Anderson – Account Executive

Who is Mikayla Anderson?

I was born and raised in central Minnesota in a small town with a population of 7,652. I was raised by a fairly traditional family of non-creatives who either work in healthcare or in trades.

I attended college at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota thanks to my supportive mother who was actually surprisingly okay with her daughter choosing a generic business major choice. Throughout my early years of college I was devoted to my studies as a first-generation college student and soon fell in love with the creative, innovative, and freedom of marketing in business. However, I got a little sidetracked when I met my now husband- Trevor. After getting married in 2021- we moved to Shreveport, LA to be stationed at Barksdale Airforce Base. That’s when I was able to pursue my full-time marketing career with Revision Marketing. Ever since I have been devoted to serving small entrepreneurs a creative outlet to best echo their passions and mission. When I’m not drafting pages, creating brand boards, or developing graphics, I’m doing my best to help my clients to find the same happiness and fulfillment that I’ve found in my work.

Before working at Revision Marketing Group I had zero experience. My entire first year of employment with RMG could be considered a Bootcamp of a little bit of everything. Working with over fifty small businesses, and launching two podcasts, all while learning and experiencing the southern culture was… interesting to say the least, but I would not have changed a thing!

What challenges have you faced along the way?

Can you share a few of your “secrets” with our audience?

I am super passionate about intersecting functionality with creative freedom. It’s super important to establish a brand that is unique but balanced. I specialize in Brand Development and Website Design, throughout my work I focus on how I can make the user experience flawless all while incorporating elements that will set you apart from your competitors.

Elementor: This is by far my favorite WordPress plugin that makes designing a website super easy. With its drag and drop functionality and an interface to custom and quality check the systems, it’s a must!

Canva: I use Canva on daily basis- I actually cannot think of a single project I haven’t used it for. Canva is awesome for creating quick graphics for social media- AND websites

Envato Elements: You can quickly run into issues with trying to visualize the design of the website without having the tools to visually see. Envato is a huge library that houses graphics, photos, etc.
